In older buildings lead plumbing can still be found. This type of plumbing system is nowadays proven insufficient and if found the surveyor should recommend replacement for other modern survey of water supplymaterials like copper, polypropylene or other similar materials.

Any defects of the leaking taps, cisterns, waste pipes and other parts of pluming that are visually inspected by surveyor need to be noted.

Combination of certain metals can cause galvanic corrosion. Hot water tanks and cisterns made of galvanised steel will eventually rust even if they treated. Replacement of these tanks for modern plastic or glass fibre type is necessary once corrosion occurs.
